We *only* got 5 credit cards this year

Half as many as last year

I think getting 3 credit cards and 2 for Sarah is still above average for most people. But for credit card churners, that’s way below average.

The main reason is that we were focusing our spend on my Hyatt cards - with our new son we knew we wouldn’t be traveling as much, but still wanted to maintain Globalist status which needs 60 qualifying night a year.

Spending $40K on the Hyatt business and $15K on the personal Hyatt gives me 26 nights, plus the 5 from automatic from the personal now gets me halfway there!

Our 2025 Credit Card Timeline

In total we earned almost half a million points from the sign-up bonuses, referrals, and spend. So that’s still pretty solid. Want your own personalized credit card plan? Submit your request here. We’ll help you optimize your set up and get the points you need.

A couple free key takeaways to learn from this year:

  • Business cards are still lucrative - high bonus points and plenty of perks.

  • Co-branded cards have their niche, but inks still reign supreme

Weekly Credit Card Tip #38

Most business credit cards still typically ding your credit score when applying, but don’t affect your utilization or credit history factors.
