Trying to Book Award Travel for a Family?

Take a look at these programs and strategies

If you’ve ever tried to book business class award seats for a family, you’ve probably hit the same wall most people do: most airlines only release two business class seats per flight. Great for couples, but not so great for families.

But if you know where to look (and how to look), it is possible to find 3, 4, or even more seats. Here’s 3 programs you have to look at for family award travel. Read the blog post for details.

Weekly Credit Card Tip #18

Children under 2 flying for free is a US thing. Be careful when you book with points for international airlines because they have different rules. Some Asian airlines do 10%-15% of the cash price - so a first class child ticket can still cost you several thousand dollars.

And here’s a couple strategies for booking overall:

  1. Book early

  2. Split the booking between 1adult/1child and the other set

  3. Book premium economy with points, then upgrade

  4. Watch for more seats closer to departure
