So now let’s pivot to hit some big news in the points & miles world
Credit Card Program Updates
End of Emirates? BILT, Chase, and Amex have paused points transfers to Emirates. Citi just devalued the ratio. We’ll see in June how this all shakes out, but if you need to book Emirates flights, try looking on Air Canada
Mortgage Credit Card! Mesa just announced a 50,000 sign-up bonus for their credit card, make it a potential must-have for every homeowner since it earns points on mortgages.
Citi Strata Card Product Change 😲 Citi is transitioning their Citi Rewards+ card to the Citi Strata card - aligning with the Strata family brand. It has a pretty good spread of bonus points for a no annual fee card.
Airline Program Updates
Southwest Bag Fees: We all knew this was coming - now we know the prices Southwest will charge for checked bags ($35 for the first and $45 for the second). These are the same prices as the other domestic airlines.
Delta Name Change: There is no longer Basic Economy or Economy, there’s now Main Basic, Main Classic, and Main Extra. Personally, I think it’s to help all those people confused about the lack of perks in basic economy.
New Hyatt Brand: Hyatt’s acquisition of The Standard and The Standard X properties is finally following through - you can book these brands on the Hyatt website.
