The easiest flight redemptions you can do

Without thinking too hard about transfer partners and timing

Not every award flight has to be a complicated puzzle - while some redemptions do take practice, patience, and advanced routing strategies, others are surprisingly straightforward. Here are the 3 easiest ways to redeem your credit card points for flights (the last one is my favorite):

1. Coast to Coast: JFK/LAX

This route is ultra-competitive, which means cheap fares and even cheaper award redemptions—no transfer partners required. Just book directly with the airline using its own points.

Top-up options:

  • Citi → AA, JetBlue

  • Chase → United, Southwest, JetBlue

  • Amex → Delta, JetBlue (bad ratio)

  • Capital One → JetBlue (bad bad)

  • Bilt → Alaska, Southwest

Simple, accessible, and often bookable last minute.

AD:

If you're applying for credit cards or signing up for new apps, you usually need a referral link to get the best welcome bonus, right? But sometimes your friends don't have the one you need.

That's where Referbonuses comes in. You can search for literally any card or app - like Amex Gold, Chase Sapphire, or even high-yield savings accounts - and find a verified referral link instantly.

Plus, if you HAVE referral links, you can post them there and actually earn those referral bonuses that usually go to waste.

2. London via Virgin Atlantic

One of the few programs that improved with dynamic pricing. You can regularly find economy awards for 6,000 points one-way—even in peak summer. Add in transfer bonuses, and that drops to under 4,300 points.

All major banks transfer to Virgin Atlantic, so it’s one of the easiest international redemptions for beginners.

3. Emirates 5th Freedom Routes

Want to fly Emirates business class without shelling out thousands of points and dollars? Book their 5th freedom routes like JFK/MXP, EWR/ATH, or MEX/BCN - for cheaper points and taxes. Specifically the JFK/MXP route has the A380 which includes the in-flight bar and shower experience for just 87,000 points and $434 one-way.

Availability is solid, taxes are lower, and the luxurious travel experience is amazing.
