Our Weekend Points Getaway

65,000 points and 2 Free Night Awards to Boston

Points don’t have to be used for extravagant international trips - they can help with getting you the optimal set up for a domestic trip.

I remember when I was a college student taking a 6am flight to save $100 over a later flight. I don’t need to do that anymore. With points, I can find sweet deals that save me both money and ungodly hours of the day to fly.

Check out our vlog of the trip, and see below for the points breakdown.

JetBlue - 23,000 points DCA-BOS for 2 on JetBlue Economy (normally $388)
Virgin Atlantic - 42,000 points BOS-DCA for 2 on Delta Domestic First Class (economy was around $300)
Hyatt - 2 Category 1-4 Free Nights used for Hyatt Regency Boston Harbor ($613 in cash)

Obviously DCA-BOS has cheaper flights and I didn’t have to fly in first class on the way back. BUT the ideal times for after work leave and midday return tend to be very popular, and thus more expensive.

Points gave me the ability to book my ideal flight time without overspending - no sacrifice of early morning flights!

Weekly Credit Card Tip #29

Almost all transferrable currencies from banks (e.g., Chase, American Express, Capital One, etc.) transfer to Virgin Atlantic and JetBlue. But watch out - because some of them have better ratios than others!
