$55,000 worth of flights on points
But was it worth it?
The title might sound fancy, but you gotta be thinking - how many points did I use? Let’s dive right into the breakdown. See the full write-up and review in our blog post.
Asia Trip on Points
Washington, DC to Seoul - 620,132 points for two adults and an infant in Korean Air business class
Seoul to Hong Kong - 38,000 points + $74.20 for two adults and an infant in Cathay Pacific business and economy class
Hong Kong to New York - 330,000 points + $356.98 for two adults and $2,200 for an infant in Cathay Pacific first class
New York to Washington, DC - 77,000 points + $11.20 for two adults and an infant in Delta economy class
So in total, we used 1,065,132 points to book all these flights. Which is obviously quite a lot, so how did we earn all those points? Mostly through sign-up bonuses, referral points, Rakuten, and spend.
American Express Business Platinum - 250,000 sign-up bonus
American Express Business Platinum (again) - 250,000 sign-up bonus
Capital One Spark Business Cash Plus - 200,000 sign-up bonus
Capital One Venture X - 75,000 sign-up bonus + 100,000 referral points
American Express Delta Skymiles Gold - 90,000 sign-up bonus
Now that’s a lot of credit cards and minimum spend, but with the right strategy and habits, it can be a lot easier than you think. Book a time with me (before I raise prices) to get a personalized credit card strategy.
