...to ANA business class in under a year

Danielle and Daniel used to spend over $15,000 a year on travel.

Some of that was for their friends’ weddings. Some was for their own vacations. None of it felt extravagant. But every year, the number crept higher.

They’d both seen people using points for international business class and free hotels. But it always seemed out of reach.

Either the deals were gone by the time they got to them, or the points they earned didn’t stretch far enough.

Danielle and Daniel were also cautious about credit cards. They didn’t want to open a bunch of new ones, only to see their credit scores drop or spending get harder to manage.

We started with one Credit Card Strategy Session.

Here’s what we did:

  • Looked at how they were currently earning and spending

  • Built a personalized credit card plan based on their lifestyle

  • Walked through how to search for good redemptions and transfer points

That’s it. No massive course to go through or multiple meetings with me.

Just a clear plan they could follow without changing much else.

The Results

Ten months later:

  • 550,000+ points earned

  • $15,524.08 in travel booked for just $1,062.61 out of pocket

  • 12 hotel nights covered

  • ANA business class to Japan and back

  • A side trip to Shanghai, also booked on points

A

Most of the points came from Chase cards and a few well-timed referral bonuses:

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve: 74,000 points

  • Chase Ink Business: 484,000 points across 4 cards

For context, they used to earn 1-5% back on cards like:

  • Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards

  • Chase Freedom Flex

  • Wells Fargo Active Cash

Now, they’re earning closer to 10-15% back in travel value AND putting those points toward redemptions that actually move the needle.

If you’re spending thousands on flights/hotels each year, I can help you reduce that spend

Weekly Credit Card Tip #27

Not all credit card points transfers are 1:1. American Express is 5:4 for JetBlue while Capital One is 5:3. So make sure you double check your math before you transfer!
