Elevated Credit Card Bonuses in Q4

Any of these catch your eye?

We’re just starting the fourth quarter of 2024 and there have been a lot of huge updates on some credit cards and their bonuses. Take a look at our shortlist below and see if it could be a good time to get them! (Some of the links are referral links)

  1. Chase Hyatt Visa: One of the biggest hang-ups of getting this card despite its amazing points redemptions was the lackluster sign-up bonus. However, for the first time ever, the Hyatt credit card is doing something similar to the Marriott credit card - giving you 5 free nights at a hotel (up to a Category 4). This is basically a week of free vacation that could save you ~$1,000 or 60,000 points on the conservative side. I would only get this card if you have a plan to use these free nights and are considering going for status. To get this bonus, many people are finding it in the Hyatt app (no referral).

  2. Chase Ink Business Unlimited: Although this has been out for some time, it’s a really lucrative bonus that basically gives you 16.5% back on your first $6,000 of spend. These points can be combined with a Sapphire or Ink Preferred to be transferred out to greater value.

  3. US Bank Smartly: A new card coming out (rumored) this month that can get you up to 4% back on ALL purchases. There won’t be a sign-up bonus, but you don’t have an annual fee and you get a 0% APR promotion for a year. This can be lucrative for making money with someone else’s money.

  4. Capital One Venture: Typically I recommend the Venture X over the Venture in almost every situation. However, if you already have the Venture X and want more Capital One points, then you could go for the Venture and get the additional $250 travel portal credit that comes with this $95 annual fee card.

  5. Chase Sapphire Preferred - Typically we suggest getting the reserve with the secret hack, but $300 travel poral credit can be enticing. Just make sure your reservation is confirmed by calling the hotel/airline directly so you don’t run into any issues. .

Finally, here are some honorable mentions for card bonuses that may or may not still exist on the internet. Good luck in your search, and let us know if you find them.

  • Chase Freedom Flex - 5% or even 10% back on groceries promotion.

  • American Express Business Platinum - 250,000 or even 300,000 bonus points after spending $20,000 (or even $15,000).

  • American Express Business Gold - 175,000 to 200,000 bonus points after spending $15,000

Credit Card Tier List Summary

For new subscribers, I’ve been ranking the most popular US personal credit cards on Instagram.

  1. USAA Rewards American Express - Team Cashback | The American Express version has slightly better bonuses probably because Amex makes more money off of interchange fees.

  2. USAA Cashback Rewards Plus - Team Cashback | 5% back on gas and military bases is nice.

  3. USAA Preferred Cash Rewards - Team Cashback | USAA’s 1.5% catch-all card

  4. Bank of America Flying Blue - Useless | Only useless because every transferrable point system transfers to this program.

  5. Synchrony Virgin Red - Useless | Hard to reach credits for little benefit, and every bank transfers to Virgin.

  6. Citi Shop Your Way - Team Cashback | A mediocre card at face value, but gets a ton of lucrative offers.

  7. MGM Rewards - Harmful | A half gambling, half hotel credit card.
