What is Cent Per Point?
And what makes a good CPP?

If you've been reading along, you've seen that I estimate the value of my points redemptions by calculating the "cent per point" of the redemption. Is this actually a good way to measure the value of a redemption? Let's take a look at how this is calculated, these industry standard of evaluation, and what I simply think might be "good."
Cent per point (CPP) calculation
At the end of the day, I believe free is free. So ignore all the hardcore travel hackers out there that claim you should only use points if you get 10x value. Enjoy your points to enjoy your life.

SoFi Unlimited 2% Credit Card - Cashback | Currently this card has a 10% boost, so you actually earn 2.2% back on everything, which is pretty solid. It’s almost like Fidelity where you can invest the earnings, but you can also just redeem for cashback. Also, to get the cashback rate you have to having a checking account with direct deposit, making more hoops to jump through.
Venmo Credit Card - Cashback | Can be useful with the 3% and 2% for top two spending categories that even includes bills & utilities.
Discover It Cashback - Intro | Another great Discover product for beginners since you get 5% on rotating categories, and your first year gets double points.
Discover It Student Cashback - Intro | A great introductory card that you can easily get with little credit history to start building your credit score.
Discover It Gas & Restaurants - Cashback | Decent categories for cashback.
Discover It Miles - Cashback | Not that great honestly for travel, mainly just for cashback.
Amtrak Guest Rewards Preferred - Niche | Has some nice perks to make up the annual fee if you ride Amtrak a lot.
