Card Rec: Top Card for Q2 2024

It's the Chase Freedom Flex (again)

While we tend to like giving personalized credit card recommendations, the Chase Freedom Flex is a card we can’t help but promote for most people for the second quarter in a row. Last quarter, you could earn 9x back on groceries if you applied for a new card. NOW you can earn 7x on restaurants whether it’s a new or old card, plus earn some other lucrative bonuses on your common spend.

The Bonus

The current quarter for the Freedom Flex is Amazon, hotels, and restaurants. Notice another pattern? Yup, the quarterly bonus of restaurants is the same as the normal restaurant category. To get into the technicalities the quarterly bonus is 4% bonus added to the base 1%. Therefore, any restaurant purchase this quarter becomes 7% back up to $1,500 of the quarterly bonus cap. You will still get 3% back on restaurants for the rest of the year.

By maxing out your restaurant spend this quarter, you can get 10,500 points, which is equal to a one-way flight from DC to Grand Cayman Islands or almost 3 nights at a Hyatt Place.

Even if you don’t spend $500/month at restaurants, you can still maximize this benefit by buying Amazon at 5%.
