No fluff, it's the Chase Freedom Flex

The Bonus
The current quarter for the Freedom Flex is grocery stores, fitness clubs and gym memberships, and self-care and spa services. Notice a pattern? Yup, the quarterly bonus of groceries is the same as the sign-up bonus. To get into the technicalities they’re both 4% bonus added to the base 1%. Therefore, any grocery purchase this quarter becomes 9% back up to $1,500 of the quarterly bonus cap. You will still get 5% back on gas and groceries for the rest of the year.
By maxing out your grocery spend this quarter, you can get 13,500 points, which is equal to one-night at a category 4 Hyatt hotel or almost 4 nights at a Hyatt Place.
Even if you don’t spend $500/month at grocery stores, you can still maximize this benefit by buying Amazon and other retailer gift cards to places you do spend. You’re essentially then getting 9% back on those future purchases.
FAQs
What if I already have the Freedom Flex?
If you’ve had it for more than a year, you can product change it to a Freedom with Ultimate Rewards card before applying to the Flex. This way you can max out the quarterly bonus on TWO cards. If you haven’t had it for over a year, then likely you haven’t used up your initial sign-up bonus and will also be getting 9%. Otherwise, sorry, you’re out of luck, but Wuhoo Group can recommend other cards that can give you large bonuses on grocery spend.
What are the other quarterly categories?
Usually quarters will include the following: Amazon, Paypal, gas, home improvement stores, and others.
What are some other benefits of the card?
The Flex also provides a $10/quarter credit to Instacart that you’ll need to activate. Also, as a Mastercard, it provides some benefits from the issuer like insurance.
What do I do with all these points?
Great question, that’s what Wuhoo Group is here to help with. Check out how we used points to fly business class for free and stay at over 30 nights of hotels for free.
