It may seem like common sense to get an airline credit card of the airline you usually fly with, but most of the time that’s actually not the best move for your credit card strategy.

  1. You want transferrable points because they’re flexible

  2. It may be cheaper on points for the same flight but on a partner’s mile program

  3. You’re likely not going to be enough value from the couple times you fly each year anyways
